Some Reasons for Filipinos to Study in Australia

As an education consultant, I’m often asked a question, why Filipino students choose to work and study in Australia? The answer, however, is so simple. It’s because of the top-notch Australian universities providing top-quality education at affordable tuition fee as compared to the universities in other English-speaking countries such as the US and the UK.

Let us find out why the country has become the first choice for Filipino students when it comes to study and work abroad!

Universities

Australian is home to many world-class universities, out of which 19 were ranked among the top 400 universities in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14. Australian universities provide high-level assistance and support to overseas students. Apart from that, Australian Government has allocated AUD200 million for Australian scholarships for international students. What more can you expect from a country you have chosen to study?

Work Experience

Many overseas students studying in Australia have an opportunity to spend more time in the country after the completion of their courses. In fact, Australian Government has recently made some changes to the Temporary Graduate Visa to introduce new work arrangements to some specific students with an Australian undergraduate or postgraduate degree. These new work arrangements, coupled with a stable economy and relatively low unemployment rate, turn Australia into a unique study abroad destination for Filipino students.

Quality

The country has set up the Tertiary Education and Standards Agency, a national regulatory and quality assurance agency for higher education. The agency operates to monitor quality and regulates university and higher education providers as per the set norms and standards formulated by the Higher Education Standards Panel.

Besides all this, the Australian professional bodies and concerned authorities have launched programs such as the bridging programme for nurses in Australia and Professional Year Program so that fresh overseas graduates in Australia can get familiar with the Australian workplace ethics and culture.

Cities

Some five years ago, the Economic Intelligence Unit affirmed that Australia has four among leading ten liveable cities in the world. Even today, Melbourne secures the first place followed by Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.

The rankings were primarily based on a variety of aspects such as stability, culture, environment, healthcare, education and infrastructure.
