What You Need to Do to Study in Australia?

Australia is one of the top three favourite education destinations for international students with 1,100 leading institutions offering more than 22,000 courses.  In 2016, 554,170 overseas students were studying in Australian universities. In the same year, the Simplified Student Visa Reforms simplified different student visa categories into one single student visa (Subclass 500) for overseas students that can now be applied online.

The process for you to apply for an Australian student visa is that you need to show the Confirmation of Enrolment, and the course you choose must be registered under the CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions of Courses).  To study in Australia, you are required to pay the tuition fee for the first semester, and you need to have a health insurance before applying for the visa.

Besides all this, other student visa requirements need to be fulfilled are:
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement
  • Evidence of sufficient funds
  • English language proficiency skills
  • Valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
Once you pay the fees, the required documents must be submitted online to the Australian Embassy. Make sure you collect all the personal and financial documents before applying for the visa online. The DIBP assesses your supporting documents. It usually takes four weeks to get your visa application processed.

Scholarships Available

There are many privileges and benefits when you choose Australia as your study abroad destination. Topping these is scholarships. The Australian Government allocated an amount of AUD200 million for scholarships in 2016. Scholarships in Australia awarded to international students depend more on the chosen course and university. Concessions on tuition fees help you save money on certificate, bachelor and master degree course. Moreover, the Australian student visa automatically allows international students to work 20 hours a week during the semester and full-time during the semester breaks and holidays.
