Pearson Test of English: An Overview and Some Advantages

Looking to pursue your higher education abroad? Besides a passport, visa and required qualification, there is one more thing you need to prepare for. When planning for studying overseas, you need to take the Pearson Test of English (PTE) or any other English language tests to show your language skills and ability.

Most of the universities in English-speaking nations request for English-proficiency test results. By doing so, they ensure that their students can keep up with the professors and classmates in and out of the class. Therefore, sitting for an English-proficiency exam will also give you an idea where you stand.

There are many different exams, such as IELTS, TOEFL and OET, to measure your language, but you should take PTE Academic if you are a student. In this blog, you will come to know what PTE is, and how it’s conducted.

PTE- an Overview

PTE exam measures the knowledge of English language of international students whose native language isn’t English.

How is it conducted?

When you are in a test centre, the examiner provides you with a secured room where you will take the test. They will provide you with a computer where the exam will be conducted. Usually, the length of the test is three hours, and you will have to take it in one day.

The questions examine two skills simultaneously, such as writing and speaking or reading and listening. For the speaking section, you need to do it on your computer. A device records your voice and sends it to the automated scoring machine to give marks. Once completed, all you get to do is to wait for the results.

Key Advantages of Taking PTE

Taking PTE offers several advantages. First, since you will be provided a cabin with a computer in the examination hall, you will be able to concentrate on your exam.

Your results will be available within five days of the exam. No matter whether you want to study in New Zealand or Australia, PTE Academic is accepted and recognised everywhere in the world. Even if you take the test in your home country, institutions and universities will recognise the test results.

There are two PTE centres in the Philippines. In case you want any information about these centres, PTE exam, preparation etc., you can contact AECC Global experts.
